Building a Stronger Future Through Resilience and Growth – A year end message from Mark Burgess

Michelle MachenMauser News, Leadership Messages

Dear Team,

Given that it is near year end, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2025 and share my thoughts as we look ahead to 2026.

Most importantly, thank you. Your hard work, dedication, and resilience have been nothing short of inspiring. This year was not easy, and the results we achieved reflect the purpose and determination you bring to work every day. Every success we’ve achieved is a direct result of your commitment, and that is something to be proud of.

2025 brought significant challenges. We faced a tough business environment where tariffs drove up the cost of imported goods, squeezed our margins, and, in some cases, led to the loss of customers. These pressures slowed anticipated growth and created a more difficult, highly competitive market. Additionally, ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Russia/Ukraine impacted our customers’ investment plans.

Yet, despite these and other headwinds, we remained focused on our core priorities: safety, customer service, continuous improvement, and growth.

In the face of this year’s challenges, we achieved some great successes. We secured significant sales wins with both new and existing customers, completed the acquisitions of Maider and Sienna Plastics, and earned a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis®—placing us among the top 30% of companies assessed globally and the top 18% within our industry for our sustainability rating. We also delivered a 10% improvement in key safety KPIs and successfully refinanced our business, ensuring financial stability for the next five years. All things we should be proud of.

Over the past year, I had the privilege of visiting many of you traveling to China, Germany, Singapore, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, the UK, and more than thirty facilities across the United States and Canada. Each visit left me inspired about our future and confident in our ability to keep improving our company and making it an even better place to work.

While we will not meet our budgeted financial targets this year, we have made incremental progress and strengthened our reputation as a trusted partner to our customers. These accomplishments speak volumes about how important we are to our customers and the impact that collaboration has in driving success.

As we look ahead to 2026, I see exciting opportunities. We will continue to innovate, enhance customer experiences, and execute on our Billion Dollar Plan. Driving growth—both organically and through strategic acquisitions—remains a top priority, along with fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Our EIP program is a true differentiator for our company, and your contributions have made our company very strong.

While the market will continue to change, we are ready to lead with agility and confidence. In an uncertain environment, we need to focus on what we can control: delivering quality, strengthening customer relationships, driving operational excellence, and managing costs. By staying disciplined and working together, we will turn challenges into opportunities and build a stronger future.

Thank you again for everything you’ve done to make 2025 a remarkable year. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together—and even more excited about what’s to come.

Here’s to a safe, successful, and inspiring 2026!

Best regards,

Mark Burgess
