On April 1, the employees of two plants in Brazil achieved significant milestones by working 1,000 days without a safety accident or incident. Congratulations to the teams in the Queimados, Rio de Janeiro and Taubate, São Paulo for almost three years of safely working day after day so that employees go home safely and return the next day to continue contributing to the team’s success.

Despite having very different work environments, Queimados as a production facility manufacturing metal discs and plates to be used in the production of steel drums and Taubate as a reconditioning facility, both teams operate with a common target of “Zero Accidents”.

Several important items contributed to the achievement at both facilities:

  • Employees carefully focus on their work to ensure they do not place themselves or others in harm’s way.
  • Employees work together to ensure the others are working safely.
  • Safety meetings at the floor and management levels provide opportunities for improvement to be identified and implemented crating a culture of continuous improvement.

Safety is the most important thing we do as a company or as individuals. Everything we do starts with ensuring the safety of our most important asset – our people. Thank you to these two teams for demonstrating this commitment and congratulations on achieving this fantastic milestone!
