Gebze, Turkey Facility Receives Zero Waste Certification

Michelle MachenOur Stories, International Packaging

Congratulations to our Gebze, Turkey facility on receiving a Zero Waste Certificate for its efforts reducing, preventing, and recycling waste within its operations.

The Zero Waste Certificate was awarded by Turkey’s Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning as part its “Zero Waste” regulation. The Zero Waste regulation was introduced in 2019 with the goal of protecting the environment, human health, and natural resources.  It is a waste management approach that focuses on, more efficient usage of resources, reduction of the amount of waste generated, the establishment of an effective collection system, the prevention of waste, and recycling of waste.

In order to receive this certificate, the Gebze facility was evaluated by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization to ensure that all criteria for zero waste were met. The facility provided evidence of waste classification by type, proper waste removal, and the implementation of employee environmental trainings, among other items.

This certificate is an exciting achievement for the facility and complement to its ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.
