Year-end message from Dave Vergo, President Large Packaging/N. American Reconditioning

Michelle MachenMauser News, Industrial Solutions, Large Packaging, Reconditioning

As we approach the end of 2019, I want to thank all Mauser employees for their strong and dedicated contributions in such a challenging year.

In 2019, our Large Packaging and Reconditioning business unit employees embraced our commitment to safety reporting ~20% lower recordable rates year over year from 2018. This improvement is a result of every employee taking ownership of personal safety and the safety of their colleagues. However, a focus on safety cannot end with a single year of improvement. We must remain vigilant.

To support our pursuit of an incident free workplace, we will be introducing “Life Saving Rules” in our North American facilities in 2020. The Mauser Life Saving Rules are eight guiding principles that will protect employees against serious injury or death. Through the implementation of these Rules, continued investments in our facilities, and a sustained commitment from employees, we will continue to see improvements in safety rates.

2019 brought many challenges for Mauser but we have weathered those challenges and are positioned for success in 2020. As we move into the new year, we will place great emphasis on making Mauser easier for our customers to partner with. By combining our Large Packaging and Reconditioning business units our customers will experience “One Mauser”. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the North American Reconditioning and Large Packaging team and look forward to see what we can accomplish.

A critical key to our success in 2020 is a continued focus on our responsiveness to customers both internally and externally. In a society accustomed to high-speed internet, streaming on demand, and next day delivery, it is imperative that we are urgent in our responses to customers to remain competitive. We have four key priorities both commercially and operationally:

Commercial

Operational

  • Improving Customer Service from
    Order to Cash
  • Automating Processes
  • Maximizing Price & Margin Potential
  • Network Optimization
  • Improved Raw Material Sourcing Strategy
  • Mauser Platform Optimization
  • Develop New Sales Team & introduce new tools
  • Mauser Operating System

These priorities will drive improved top line revenue and lower our operating cost and deliver growth for our stakeholders.

I am optimistic about the economic outlook for 2020 and the projects we have in the pipeline. We will continue to grow as a Company as we engage our employees with training opportunities, introduce new products in the marketplace, invest in new and existing facilities, and implement synergies among the business units. We have large goals for 2020 but we are positioned to achieve them.

To close out 2019, and maybe most importantly, I hope everyone takes time over the next few weeks to relax, recharge, and reflect on what is most important – family and friends. Thank you for your hard work and dedication this year. Be safe.

All my best,

Dave Vergo
