Langley Celebrates North American Occupational Safety and Health Week

The Langley Small Packaging plastics facility celebrated the annual North American Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) May 5-11. NAOSH Week presents an excellent opportunity to focus, reinforce, and strengthen the facility’s commitment to occupational safety and health. Throughout the week, employees participated in health and safety activities as facility leadership took the opportunity to reinforce the importance of safety in fun ways.

Highlights of the week were:

  • Safety BBQ and Dunk Tank
    Employees were treated to a BBQ lunch. During the lunch, managers sat in a dunk tank, safely plinko was played and safety related prizes were distributed.
  • 3rd Annual Forklift Rodeo
    Employees navigated forklifts through an obstacle course to demonstrate forklift operation skill.
  • 2019 Safety Slogan Reveal
    The 2019 safety slogan was revealed and celebrated with cake. Employees signed a banner with the new slogan to demonstrate individual commitment to safety.

Other activities throughout the week included various safety games, quizzes and contests; wellness lunch and learns; a safety scavenger hunt; a safety photo booth; and a Spot the Hazard challenge.

Participation and involvement in NAOSH Week has been shown to:

  • Improve attitudes towards safety
  • Increase understanding of in the importance of occupational safety and health
  • Foster a safety-minded culture
  • Increase cooperation
  • Assist in team building and improve communication between employees, safety committees and safety professionals.

This is a fantastic week that our employees look forward to. By coordinating fun safety activities throughout the week, we hope that employees make safety a priority in everything they do.
