At Mauser Packaging Solutions, sustainability isn’t a buzzword; it is how we do business. From designing smarter products to closing the loop through reconditioning and recycling, sustainability is built into how we conduct business. Our sustainability commitment doesn’t stop with our customers, we’re focused now more than ever on reducing energy use and waste in our own facilities so we operate responsibly and protect the environment we all share.
Our Sustainability Steering Committee, launched in 2024, is driving the next phase of Mauser’s sustainability progress. For 2026, the team is spearheading several key initiatives—building a cross‑functional sustainability team, conducting waste audits, and exploring renewable energy and battery storage options.
These efforts aren’t just good for the business—they make Mauser a better place to work and strengthen the communities we operate in. Keep reading to learn how these initiatives will support you and your work.

Cross-Functional Sustainability Team
A cross-functional sustainability team developed in NAIP is taking a comprehensive look at energy, water, and waste reduction in facilities. The team – comprised of members from Procurement, Operations and Sustainability – is focused on finding ways to reduce waste and utility costs. Employees will have the opportunity to share their ideas or join site level teams to contribute to improvements that create a cleaner, more efficient workplace. Along with the environmental impact, the ideas that result from these teams to reduce energy costs mean more budget stays within the company to support equipment upgrades, staffing needs, and facility improvements.

Waste Audits at Reconditioning Facilities
Mauser has partnered with a third-party waste consulting group, Northstar Recycling/Waste Technology Services, to perform waste audits at facilities. Starting with three selected facilities – Charlotte, Cleveland and Hutchins – the goal of the audits is to identify opportunities to remove costs associated with waste management, monetize waste streams, and divert waste from landfills. While Northstar will provide valuable insight, Mauser employees are the experts on how materials move through facilities and may be asked to explain processes, identify pain points, or make suggestions that could directly impact how waste reduction solutions are implemented. In addition to cost savings, waste management improvements often result in immediate, tangible differences in workflow and facility cleanliness which improves the quality and safety of the work environment.

Renewable Energy & Battery Storage Exploration
In an effort to take advantage of state and federal incentives related to renewable energy and battery storage, a team comprised of procurement, operations, and sustainability is pursuing options for implementing solar powered energy and battery storage solutions at some facilities. Both solutions would reduce utility costs as well as enable Mauser to take advantage of government incentives. Lower, more predictable energy costs positions the company for long-term stability by reducing financial strain and helping shield the business from price spikes. Additionally, these energy alternatives can increase operational reliability by providing smoother energy performance within the facility.
