Improving Machine Longevity and Appearance
York, Pa.
Aaron Hansford, Maintainer at the York Metals facility, was recently recognized through the Mauser Employee Award Program for identifying and addressing a long-standing issue with the scroll press. In the current state, the tables on some scroll machines were worn out, especially in areas where the feed belts should run over metal rails. Guide rails were bolted to the tables making them difficult to move and caused the belts to ride beside the rails instead of on them at times.
To solve the issue, Aaron measured, designed, and cut plexiglass to replace the worn wooden tables. He added slots for attachment bolts allowing the rails to easily be adjusted as needed. The upgrade appears more professional, improves the longevity of the machinery, and enables quicker and more flexible belt/rail adjustments.

Reducing Waste through Innovation
Langley, BC, Canada
David McLeod, Production Assistant at the Langley Plastics facility, was recently recognized through the Mauser Employee Award Program for designing and implementing a table to protect finished products from falling to the floor.
During dairy pail production, any pail that comes into contact with the floor must be immediately scrapped, resulting in unnecessary material waste. David recognized this as a common occurrence and worked with the Maintenance Department to design and implement a table that would better contain the product. This allows operators to safely handle pails while significantly reducing the risk of loss from product falling to the floor. In addition to the financial benefits, this project also supports Mauser’s commitment to sustainability by reducing waste in our production process.
Thank you, David, for taking the initiative to identify and implement a solution that reduces waste and improves efficiency.
